Kinka Isakaya Montreal

Did you know the name “KINKA” means “Golden Flower” which symbolizes “Happiness” in Japanese? The Kinka Isakaya restaurant located in Downtown Montreal is renowned for its bustling atmosphere, immersive dining experience, Japanese tapas-style dishes, and exceptional beverage menu and invites all to embark on a culinary journey of authentic Japanese cuisine.

Guests can also indulge in a large beverage selection so that they can truly experience the philosophy of an izakaya; pairing tapas-style dishes with a collection of premium Japanese sake, craft beers, and cocktails. They have different specials throughout the week including $3 sake bombs on Thursdays and $7 cocktails on Sundays.

We went for their lunch menu which is offered Wednesday to Sunday from 11:30 to 2:30pm and perfect for back to school. And now untl September 30th, students with a valid ID card will get 10% off.

We got the:

  • BBQ Eel Sizzling Stone Rice Bowl - burdock + raw egg yolk + sweet unagi sauce
  • Karaage Japanese Curry - deep fried chicken karaage + ground beef + onion

Their lunches are served with small app + small salad + miso soup

  • Tokyo Fries - garlic mayo + nori + bonito flakes + green onions + tonkatsu sauce

We also got the NEKO PUNCH (sake + honey syrup + passion fruit + pineapple + lime) and it was so good.

Kinka Izakaya also offers set menus, perfect for sharing with friends or family. For $38 per person with a minimum of two orders, guests can enjoy a variety of dishes including miso soup, edamame, seaweed and tofu salad, beef carpaccio, salmon tataki, prawn tempura, JFC A.K.A Karaage, Kinoko cheese bibimbap, and finish off with a serving of matcha ice cream. For those looking for a more extensive experience, the restaurant offers a $55 per person set menu with a minimum of two orders. It includes everything in the $38 set menu, plus beef shabu salad, crispy veg gyoza, salmon oshizushi, and matcha cheesecake.
