Weekend Away: New York City

Summer road trips are back and we start off with one of my favorite cities: New York City!

Where to Stay

We stayed both at the Paper Factory in Queens. Located a few minutes walk away from the subway, it was the perfect spot for an affordable stay in the city.

Where to Eat

BREAKFAST, LUNCH AND COFFEE SHOPS

The perfect brunch spot to start off a weekend away! Part restaurant, part bar, part café, Buvette combines the elegance of an old world café with the casual nature of a neighborhood eatery.

  • Kitsuné Café

One of my favorite spots in the city to grab a coffee and live the new york city life! Grab a coffee on their terrace and enjoy the city sounds before walking around the neighbourhood.

Serving brunch on weekends as well as lunch & dinner on weekdays and they have a beautiful terrace you can enjoy during the summer. We tried their brunch burrata which had cranberry toast and agrume marmalade and it was to die for!

One of the most popular bakeries in NYC! From their cronuts to the frozen smores to the chocolate chip cookie shot, there are so many treats to try. The perfect spot to relax for a little while during your stroll through SOHO.

A popular brunch spot in the city with multiple locations! Offering south african jewish cuisine inspired dishes, it is definitely a must try!

You can never go to new york and not get a new york slice! This is one of the most popular places in the city to grab an authentic new york slice.

Serving brunch, lunch and dinner everyday of the week this is a must try in Brooklyn! From their breakfast sandwich, to their avocado toast & drinks you can't go wrong.

DINNER AND DRINKS

This restaurant is a New York Times three-star restaurant and a 2021 Michelin Star recipient from Chef Stefano Secchi and Partner David Switzer in New York City's Flatiron neighborhood. Definitely an expensive but worth it experience to try if you are celebrating something special. Their menu specializes in house-made pasta in celebration of the cuisine of the Emilia Romagna region. On their menu, they offer this parmesan cheese tasting (as shown on the image below) and for all cheese lovers out there it is definitely a must!

Home of the Original World-Famous Singing Waitstaff! Definitely a fun experience for all broadway lovers out there. This 1950s restaurant offers classic diner food but with a twist, all waiters sing throughout your dining experience! From your favorite broadway shows to musical they sing pretty much anything!

This Broadway Supper Club, a recipient of the 2022 TONY AWARDS® Honor for Excellence in the Theatre, grants the ability to experience the new york nightlife  with performances from Broadway's best. We went for their Broadway's greatest hits show and from the performances to their storytelling it is an experience you don't want to miss out on.

What to Do

  • Walk around Chelsea

From the Chelsea Market to the high line to little islan, there are so many places to explore in this neighbourhood. Make sure to check out the secret grove court for a cute photo spot!

  • Explore SOHO

From shopping to coffee shops and restaurants, Soho is definitely one of my favorite neighbourhoods in the city. Here are some must visit spots for the perfect photos:

  • Goods for the study mulberry
  • L'appartement sézane
  • Pietro nolita
  • La mercerie
  • Nomo Soho
  • Ladurée Soho
  • Walk around Central Park

Definitely a great way to escape the city's chaos for a little while. From a picnic in the park to just walking around or evening joining in on the tango dance classes on Friday night it's a great place to relax. Definitely check out the Bethesda Terrace & Fountain while you are there for an iconic gossip girl moment!

  • Go to a broadway bar/restaurant like Ellen's Stardust & 54 Below

Instead of assisting a Broadway show, check out a supper club to listen to broadway music!

  • Explore Brooklyn and shop all things vintage

Brooklyn coffee shops & vintage stores are definitely a must whenever in NYC!

Bon Appétit & Safe Travels!
